Barry Wilkins, Squair Deal’s manager, grew up on
family ranches in northern California. He was
taught to deliver, raise, and care for hogs, sheep,
beef & dairy cattle, and horses. He was very active
in 4-H, showing and judging animals. He studied
business and facility management at Linfield
College, Oregon State University and the
University of Iowa. He moved to Colorado in 1994
and began his business career. He was a service
and sales representative for 10 years. He excelled
in customer service and learned the plumbing and
electrical trades. In 1999, because Barry had
enjoyed working with horses and had always
wanted to own his own business, he and a former
partner built a full care horse boarding facility. It
was in operation until it was sold seven years later.
Barry has bred, foaled, raised and broken over
ten of his own horses in the past eight years. At
Squair Deal Barry cares for the horses as if they
were his own, but always with the client in mind.
Barry stays in touch with the changing world of
horses in a variety of ways including being a
member of the Conifer Chamber of Commerce.
Squair Deal's owner is Roz Squair who resides in
Etna, California, a small town in a small valley in
the mounains of far northern California. She has
been a teacher at Etna Elementary School since
1976. She met Barry Wilkins when he was a first
grader at EES. Thanks to the marvels of modern
technology, Roz is a very involved owner and visits
Squair Deal during school vacations.
Both Barry and Roz are enjoying the challenge of
rebuilding a long neglected property into a premier
boarding facility. They hope you’ll come see, and
want your horse to stable at, the old Tandem Park
being transformed into the new Squair Deal.
